Frida Kahlo (1907 - 1954) was a Mexican painter known for her many portraits, self-portraits, and works inspired by the nature and artifacts of Mexico and by the country's popular culture.
Kahlo's work as an artist remained relatively unknown until the late 1970s, when her paintings was rediscovered by art historians and political activists.
Today she became an international pop art icon.
